Suresh Garimella, who serves as the 23rd president of the University of Arizona, provides a fiscal update in the Arizona Daily Star.

Suresh Garimella wrote an opinion column in the Arizona Daily Star that provided insight into the current state of the University of Arizona budget.

In the column published Aug. 29, Garimella, the 23rd president of the University of Arizona and University Distinguished Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, detailed the university's fiscal situation since his appointment as president last October.

"Thanks to the contributions of many, we have re-envisioned how we operate and restored balance to our finances, positioning the university to truly fulfill its land-grant mission," Garimella wrote.

"I am pleased to share that we have eliminated the deficit, implemented tighter operational controls and built a stronger, more sustainable foundation."
