Welcome From Department Head

AME Focuses on Smart, Energy-Efficient, Reliable Systems

Professor Peiwen "Perry" Li, Department Head

Welcome!

In this time when technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and additive manufacturing are becoming more and more integral to aerospace and mechanical engineering, the University of Arizona is the place to be to advance research and prepare for your career.

The UA Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering is dedicated to promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in Arizona.

From Butterfly-Size Technology to Giant Flying Machines

The research and teaching of AME’s top-ranked faculty members covers the fundamental disciplines of fluid mechanics, thermal-science, solid mechanics, control theory, nuclear energy and physics, and reliability analysis. These studies support a wide range of engineering applications in modern society:

  • Space exploration
  • Airplane design, fabrication and control
  • Unmanned air and underwater vehicles
  • Thermal and fluid engineering for energy and power systems
  • Bioengineering and medical devices
  • Air conditioning and refrigeration

Harness the Energy and Power of Nature

Our promise: You will be engaged in the classroom and in the laboratory, and the training you receive at the UA will serve you throughout your career. Study hard and learn as much as you can to improve your knowledge and skills. But remember to take time out to enjoy the wonders of Arizona. Cacti thrive in a tough environment, and so can you!
