The UA Baja Racing Team

Whether you’re looking to practice your design skills through competition or collaborate with professionals, there’s a UA Engineering club or organization for you. Below is a sampling of opportunities to get involved!

Celebrate Club Successes

In this recent UA College of Engineering story about touring with teammates, see how students characterize their club experiences.

AME-Focused Organizations

  • The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics focuses on rocket and aircraft design with fundamentals instruction programs, intercollegiate competitions and professional development.
  • The American Society of Mechanical Engineers aims to be the essential resource for mechanical engineers and other technical professionals throughout the world for solutions that benefit humankind.
  • Near Space Club uses high-altitude balloons to provide easy access to the stratosphere for engineering projects and scientific investigations, and supports a variety of student-led projects.
  • Students for the Exploration and Development of Space promotes student involvement in space exploration through participation in national projects, conferences and networking.

Design-Build-Compete Clubs

  • The UA Baja Racing Team designs and builds a unique single-seat Baja-style recreational vehicle and races it in regional, national and international competitions.
  • Got a need for speed? Wildcat Formula Racing constructs a formula-style car and races it for speed and endurance.
  • The Arizona Autonomous Vehicle Club designs unmanned air vehicles and unmanned ground vehicles for national and international competitions.
  • The Autonomous Underwater Vehicle team builds remote-operated underwater vehicles for entry into the international RoboSub competition.

Leadership Development

  • Find out how to get involved in the Engineering Student Council, the college's student governing body.
  • Members of the UA chapter of Tau Beta Pi, the National Engineering Honor Society, uphold and advance the integrity, honor and dignity of the engineering profession.
  • Engineering Ambassadors represent the College of Engineering at recruitment, industry and alumni events. They lead campus and lab tours and participate in student panels.

Service Oriented

  • CATalyst does fun STEM outreach with local elementary, middle and high school students.
  • Start living your dream in UA's Engineers Without Borders chapter, and make a difference for people in your communities and around the world. 

Embracing Diversity

  • Help the UA Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers organize its next STEM community event, network at an organization conference, support classmates and make friends.
  • The Society of Women Engineers supports students and ensures women are recognized for their life-changing engineering and leadership contributions and achievements.
  • National Society of Black Engineers students excel academically, succeed professionally and positively affect their communities.
