University of Arizona mechanical engineering alum Ron Rich was featured in a Craig M Berge Design Program article about his service to the College of Engineering. Rich earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1982 and retired from Honeywell in 2018 after years in the engineering field.

Along with decades of industry experience, Rich mentored engineering students, served as a judge for the Craig M. Berge Design Day and won the Craig M. Berge Engineering Design Program Circle of Excellence Award in 2019.

Rich has judged Design Day teams for the last 25 years. In this role, he said he looks for problem-solving and teamwork.

Paying it forward

He said he returns every year because these experiences are rewarding.

“I see it as an opportunity to give back to the college, be impactful and see some of the new engineers coming out of the school.”
