Three AME faculty receive medallions at Patent Luncheon

Three faculty members from the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering earned medallions for their research patents on March 12. Tech Launch Arizona and the College of Engineering hosts the annual luncheon to celebrate engineering faculty.
This year, AME professor Peiwen Li earned a patent medallion for a reactor and control system for hydrogen production. Li studies a variety of energy and engineering topics, including renewable energy technologies, thermal energy storage, and hydrogen production. He also earned an award at last year's luncheon for a heat recovery apparatus.
Associate professor Christoph Hader and professor Hermann Fasel both earned a medallion for their mutual research into flow control during high-speed flight.
The U of A ranked 31st globally on the National Academy of Inventors' list of the top 100 universities granted utility patents, with 18% of those patents resulting from the work of college affiliates.
