Abstract: Mr. Marren will outline the recent trends in hypersonics today and the resurgence of interest by the DoD and other government agencies. He will introduce several use cease for hypersonics, the technical challenges associated with testing these concepts and finally, some discussion on test capabilities useful to solving several of these technical challenges.
Bio: Mr. Marren is an independent contractor employed through the Scientific Research Corporation (SRC) for the Test Resource Management Center, TRMC. He advises on hypersonic test challenges and helps to develop workforce development strategies for the organization.
He is currently assigned to the Test Resource Management Center, leading contractor support to the hypersonic program led by Mr. Geoffrey Wilson. He also advises DDR&E, Joint Hypersonic Transition Office (JHTO) on university engagement and workforce development strategies.
Prior to Federal retirement in March 2020, Mr. Marren was the director of the USAF White Oak, Md site of the Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC). He has more than forty years testing and program experience for hypersonic systems and has participated in several facility developments. He chaired professional society technical committees, participates in National facility studies, and launched an innovative hypersonic workforce development pilot for the TRMC.
