AME Lecture Hall, Room S202 | Zoom link
Abstract: The DEVCOM Army Research Laboratory (ARL) is the basic and applied research arm for Army Futures Command. This talk will begin with an overview of ARL and its mission. The remainder of the talk will discuss research projects being conducted in the Flight Sciences Branch as well as potential collaboration topics. The mission of the Flight Sciences Branch is to provide the warfighter with flight science technologies that enable overwhelming lethality on the battlefield. Key technologies include theoretical, computational and experimental aerodynamics, flight dynamics, guidance, navigation and control of guided munitions.
Bio: Joseph Vasile is an aerospace engineer at the Army Research Laboratory (ARL), Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. Dr. Vasile has worked in computational and experimental aerodynamics in all flight regimes (subsonic, transonic, supersonic and hypersonic) as well as flight dynamics. He is considered a subject matter expert in the area of projectile aerodynamics. He received a BS in aeronautical and mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2009 and a Ph.D. in aeronautical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2014.
